“The Begijnhof in Breda is one of my favorite places to walk. It's a peaceful spot in the lively city center that takes you back to the 13th century. The ‘Begijnen’, a group of religious women, lived here. Though they dedicated their lives to religion, they didn't take permanent vows, allowing them to own property and participate in society. The Begijnhof has houses, a church, and a garden. Today, mostly single women still live here, maintaining the community’s tradition in this beautiful and historic part of the city”.
